The 2006 Fall Rosarito Ensenada 50 Mile Fun Bike Ride takes place on September 30th! Baja Bound is proud to be sponsoring this amazing event once again. The bike ride continues to get rave reviews, as last years rides were once again voted the "Best Cycling Event of 2005" by L.A. Sports and Fitness magazine.
The ride begins in downtown Rosarito in front of the Rosarito Beach Hotel and heads south along the coast for about twenty miles. Riders will then head inland to tackle "El Tigre", a rather steep climb that is over two miles long and results in many participants opting to walk with their bikes! Once on top of the plateau, riders get to take in the breathtaking Baja landscape for a while before the gradual descent into the heart of Ensenada. This past April computer chip timing was introduced for the riders in order to provide the most accurate recording of their ride time. For the upcoming ride the computer chip timing is free with all online and mail entries made before the respective deadlines. Visit the timing page on the Rosarito Ensenada website for more information about this new system and registration information.
For general information about the event please visit the Rosarito Ensenada Bike Ride website. Make sure to come by the Baja Bound tent at the Finish Line Fiesta! We will be giving out some goodies for riders and spectators alike.
The Rosarito Ensenada 50 Mile Fun Bicycle Ride's history dates back to 1980, when a few friends rode the old free road from Ensenada to Rosarito Beach and noticed that they had ridden exactly 50 miles. The ride became an annual tradition and quickly grew so large that in 1986 a second ride was created to alleviate the crowds. The Rosarito Ensenada 50 Mile Fun Bike Ride is now put on by Bicycling West and is held each April and September. Over 8000 riders participate in the event.
